Meal Plan Privacy Policy

MealPlan ("we", "our", "us") is a mobile application that helps groups of friends decide where to eat by swiping on nearby restaurants. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address
• Display name
• Profile photo (if you choose to add one)

If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from those services. We do not receive or store your Google or Apple password.

Location Data

When you create a meal plan, we use your device's location to find nearby restaurants. Your location is sent to our server to query restaurant data and is not stored permanently or shared with other users.

Usage Data

We collect data about how you use the app, including:

• Restaurant swipes (likes and dislikes) to determine matches within your group
• Meal plans you create and participate in
• Your friends list

Device Information

We collect your device's push notification token to send you notifications about meal plan invites, matches, and friend requests. We do not collect device identifiers for advertising purposes.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide the core service: finding restaurants, matching with friends, and sending notifications
• To allow friends to find and add you by email (if you enable searchability)
• To manage your subscription status

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Supabase — hosts our database and authentication (servers in the US)
• Google Places API — provides restaurant data. Your location is sent to Google to retrieve nearby restaurants. Google's privacy policy applies to their processing of this data.
• Firebase Cloud Messaging — delivers push notifications to your device
• RevenueCat — manages in-app subscriptions
• Google Sign-In / Apple Sign-In — optional authentication providers

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only as described above with service providers necessary to operate the app. Other MealPlan users can see your display name, profile photo, and email (if you enable searchability).

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Meal plan and swipe data from completed plans is retained to show your match history. You can delete your account at any time from the app's settings, which permanently removes all your data from our servers.

Data Security

Your data is stored in a secured database with row-level security policies. All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS encryption. Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device.

Children's Privacy

MealPlan is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

Your Rights

You can:

• View and update your profile information in the app
• Control whether your profile is searchable by other users
• Delete your account and all associated data from the Settings screen
• Contact us to request a copy of your data

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email.
